Residential Homes for Youth with Complex Needs
Key Assets Kentucky provides specialized residential homes for youth in the state’s care with autism, intellectual disabilities, and other complex needs.
The young people we serve are among Kentucky’s most vulnerable. Many have autism along with developmental, intellectual, behavioral, or other diagnoses that can make traditional foster care placements difficult to sustain.
Our residential homes, located in Central Kentucky neighborhoods, provide an important option for youth in the state’s care who need a higher level of support and may otherwise have few places to turn. We create safe, supportive environments where youth can experience stability and belonging while developing independence and participating in their surrounding communities. By living in neighborhoods, youth have opportunities to build relationships and experience the everyday connections that are an important part of growing up.
Neighborhood Homes. Individualized Support. Real Belonging.
Through our Children in Community Care program, Key Assets Kentucky operates specialized residential homes in Kentucky communities. Our homes are intentionally modest, giving young people the opportunity to live in a safe, nurturing environment with individualized support from dedicated staff around the clock.
Here, everyday moments matter – from sharing meals and celebrating birthdays to learning new skills, building relationships, and becoming more independent.

Resources for Families & Communities
Key Assets Kentucky is a trauma-informed organization, meaning we recognize that past experiences can shape how a young person feels, communicates, builds relationships, and responds to the world around them. We approach each youth with understanding, consistency, and respect, creating an environment where they can feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow. We believe sharing trusted information is another way we can support Kentucky families and communities.
